Meet our team

At Fairfax EggBank, we’ve cultivated a compassionate team of professionals who not only have outstanding expertise and experience, but also share our dedication to provide the utmost level of care and services.

Andy Dorfmann, MS, ELD (ABB)

Scientific Director and General Manager

Something that amuses Andy’s team members whenever they attend conferences is how he seems to know everyone there – it might be attributed to his 35+ years working in the field as a laboratory scientist, clinical embryologist, and cytogenetcist.  Andy is the visionary who helped found the Fairfax EggBank in 2006, believing frozen donor eggs held huge potential in revolutionizing the donor egg market. While we see rapid adoption of frozen donor eggs today, back in the early 2000’s the technology was considered very new and experimental at best. Andy’s goal is to make Fairfax EggBank the best option for egg donor recipients and egg donors, by maintaining the highest level of technical and scientific quality and delivering the best customer service possible.

What he loves about his job

“Even after so many years in this field, I get excited about both the technical aspects of embryology as well as the ability to provide a very special and personal service to patients. I derive an incredible feeling of satisfaction when we are successful. My goal is to achieve a level of success and service that provides each patient with the sense that we have done the absolute best we can possibly do for them.”

Fun fact

Andy is an incurable audiophile.

Rita Fields, MS, ELD (ABB)

Embryology Liaison

Rita is a seasoned embryology expert, working as an embryologist for nearly 30 years. At Fairfax EggBank, she is constantly traveling across the country and abroad to the 225+ IVF clinics we support. She is pivotal to ensuring that both the IVF labs that are freezing donor eggs and IVF labs that are warming them are doing so according to Fairfax EggBank’s strict protocol. Her goal is that by working with other embryologists, we can employ best-practice protocols to be able to offer donor egg recipients the best results using Fairfax EggBank’s donor eggs.

What she loves about her job

“I enjoy the opportunity to visit so many excellent providers. While my job is to provide assistance and answer questions, it is rare that I do not learn something from the embryologists who I am visiting. No two embryology labs are alike and I feel that visiting labs with different resources and seeing how they are successful has made me a better embryologist. I am a complete embryology nerd and am still excited about it after all these years.”

Fun fact

Rita not only supports the cause for building families through her embryology expertise, she also went so far as serving as a gestational carrier for a friend.

Debbie Villafana

Donor Egg Program Manager

Debbie is the definition of meritocracy, having worked up the ranks in the IVF field across the last 18 years from being an IVF coordinator to overseeing a large team of donor coordinators at Fairfax EggBank. In her role at Fairfax EggBank, Debbie oversees the recruitment and screening of our donors, which is no easy feat with the 8,000+ applications we receive a month from aspiring donors. Thanks to the work of Debbie and her team, we maintain a diverse pool of donors, all of who have endured extensive medical testing and are FDA-compliant.

What she loves about her job

“There’s nothing more rewarding to know that, on a daily basis, I am helping others find their dream come true.”

Fun fact

Debbie is a hero to all pet owners, saving her dog from a rabid raccoon and getting bit as a result. While she was luckily immune from developing rabies, she is not immune to the occasional raccoon joke dished out by her colleagues.
